Collection: Sitsofe (Ewe:Refuge) Woven Collection
In Ghana when it rains, the snails would come out and be walking about. There is a safety and a steady confidence in a snail. As you know, a snail carries its refuge, therefore, its home is always there. In Ghanaian culture, the stories, patterns, and imagery reflect on home and identity. Therefore, when you carry your home with you, you will always feel safe. Furthermore, the faith we have in Jesus gives us refuge. In Psalms 91 it speaks of this shelter and that we can always run to Him for safety or find ourselves "covered in feathers." These pouches are a reminder of refuge, whether culturally or in faith.
